Through our Advocacy efforts as the Greater Palatine Bicycle Task Force, the process to identify areas for improvement began in 2010. The village retained the services of the League of Illinois Bicyclists's Ed Barsotti and Spaceco to develop Palatine's comprehensive bike plan which was approved in JULY 2011 AT THE PALATINE COUNCIL MEETING.
FEDERAL GRANT OF $147,560 WAS AWARDED in FEBRUARY 2013 with the VOP additional matching funds totaling over $187,000 toward striping and signage for a safer and more bicycle-friendly community! VOP crews began roadway improvements in June 2016!
