Have you biked the Cuba Marsh trails?

Have you biked the Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve trails?  This pretty Lake County Forest Preserve, accessible off Ela Road at Long Grove Road, is quite literally a breath of fresh air! It features three miles of (mostly) flat, wide, crushed gravel trails plus a few beautiful, long wooden wetland-crossings.

Interesting birds abound.  Throughout the changing seasons, riders and walkers are treated to great, wide, colorful vistas of lovely rolling grasslands and marshes. You’ll ride through some woodlands, but the overall feel is open, vast – and fairly dry - despite its watery name!  Ample parking at the Preserve is on Cuba Road, west of Ela Road and east of Route 59.

The Lake County Forest Preserve features an interactive trail map containing all of their preserves, but included below is their non-interactive PDF version.

There’s also plenty of parking at Citizen’s Park, off Northwest Highway at Lake Zurich Road in Barrington. A beautiful connecting trail leads right into the Cuba Marsh Preserve
. While the park’s playground, shelter, treehouse, drinking fountains and restrooms are all closed now due to COVID precautions, the trails are all remain open!

Lake County Forest Preserve staff cautions all visitors to respect fellow trail users and keep a strict 6-foot  distance on all sides at all times during the COVID crisis. Check here for COVID updates before venturing out.
