Joy of Riding

Crazy how many bikes are out there these days, right?!  Bicycling is unexpectedly enjoying a renaissance during this time of Covid. Bikes are flying off the sales floors at shops and emerging from the dusty rafters in garages.

Bicycling has been "rediscovered" in this era of quarantining and social distancing as an amazing and safe way to get outdoors, move our bodies, enjoy fresh air, see and greet long-lost humans and experience (gasp) JOY! Whether you're a 30 year-old mom riding around the block with little kids in tow, a 50 year-old work-from-home guy who has been away from his bike for 15 years, or a ripped 20 year-old whose gym is closed, there's no mistaking that the bike lanes and trails through town are busier than they've been in years!

And many of those getting back on their bikes are astonished to rediscover what they'd forgotten:  Riding bikes is fun!

It is restorative, great for mental health, and gets you back outside again! Back into the sunshine and fresh air, the wind whipping through your hair, and you feeling like a little kid again! The rainbow vision of wildflowers in bloom, the sweet smell of freshly cut grass, the soft sound of prairie stems whispering in the breeze - take it all in, as deeply as you can - the sensory delights of summer outdoors.

Don't miss it, even in these weird times. Count your blessings. And promise to never stop enjoying the ride!
